Major FX & Commodity Market Breakdown
Updated: September 29, 2026
1. Gold (XAU/USD)
Bearish / Testing Key SupportMacro Driver: Gold is hovering near a seven-week low as Fed rate-hike fears dominate. Spot gold steadied around $4,124 after hitting its lowest since August 5. US gold futures fell to $4,156. The Fed may keep rates higher for longer, crushing the appeal of non-yielding bullion.
Key Levels: The critical support is $4,110. A break below opens the door to $4,050. To weaken the bearish case, gold needs to reclaim $4,180, then $4,220.
My Play: This is a dangerous spot. I'm NOT buying until gold reclaims $4,180 with conviction. A confirmed break below $4,110 is a sell signal targeting $4,050.
2. EUR/USD
BearishMacro Driver: The euro is getting hammered, trading around 1.1345–1.1360 — its lowest since July 28. Surging US Treasury yields and hawkish Fed signals are crushing the pair. Cleveland Fed President Hammack said inflation risks remain high; Fed Governor Barr said "further policy adjustments are likely."
Key Levels: Resistance is 1.1374 (session high). Support at 1.1357, then 1.1300.
My Play: Selling rallies. The dollar is king right now. I want to fade any bounce toward 1.1370-1.1380 with a tight stop above 1.1400.
3. GBP/USD
BearishMacro Driver: Sterling is sliding as oil-fuelled dollar demand builds. GBP/USD fell to $1.3232, down 0.19%. Stalled US-Iran talks pushed Brent crude toward $107/barrel, keeping the dollar supported across the board.
Key Levels: Resistance at 1.3300, then 1.3400. Support at 1.3200, then 1.3150.
My Play: Selling rallies toward 1.3280-1.3300. Cable is breaking down — don't try to catch this falling knife until it stabilizes above 1.3350.
4. USD/JPY
Bullish / CappedMacro Driver: Dollar-yen rose to 157.50 on rising US long-term rates, but gains are capped by Japanese Finance Minister verbal intervention. The pair moved between 157.20 and 157.58 in Tokyo. US yields stay high, making the dollar hard to sell.
Key Levels: Resistance at 157.58 (session high), then 158.00. Support at 157.20, then 156.80.
My Play: I'm staying light. The BOJ intervention threat is real. I'd only buy dips toward 157.00-157.20 with a very tight stop, or stand aside completely.
5. USD/CAD
Bullish / Breaking OutMacro Driver: Dollar-CAD is pushing to nearly 3-month highs at 1.4193, up from 1.4177. The Canadian dollar is weakening against most majors. Oil swings and Canada GDP data due today are the catalysts.
Key Levels: Resistance at 1.4200, then 1.4250. Support at 1.4150, then 1.4100.
My Play: Buying dips toward 1.4150 as long as we hold above 1.4100. The trend is clearly higher — don't fight it.
6. AUD/USD & NZD/USD
BearishMacro Driver: Both Antipodeans are getting crushed. AUD/USD dropped below 0.7000 to fresh two-month lows at 0.6978, despite a hawkish RBA hike. NZD/USD fell to a three-month low of 0.5644, extending losses amid US-Iran tensions.
Key Levels (AUD/USD): Resistance at 0.7030, then 0.7100. Support at 0.6950, then 0.6900.
My Play: Selling rallies. The RBA hike couldn't lift AUD — that's a bearish signal. NZD is even weaker. Avoid longs until risk sentiment improves.
